For the past 4 years, Hockey Michigan (AAU) has hosted full -ice "Real Hockey" featuring; black pucks, Delayed-offsides and 9 dot faceoffs using High School hockey rules as a grass-root alternative to the micromanaged methods of other organizations. Thousands of 7U, 8U and Mite house players have benefited and we have seen this expanding from Michigan into a national program of over 30,000 participants. Michigan is now falling behind in expanding into 10U and 12U. This year AAU held there national playoffs for Squirts andPee Wee. We have done the hard work of creating this league for all the youth hockey players in Michigan. After many years of no competition in the youth hockey world, there has now come a time that another option is needed. Players and Coaches, it is time to talk to your association about the alternative of AAU membership. AAU is a larger organization with more options for the Kids, Teams and Assocaitons. I am available to attend any meetings to discuss, present and answer questions. IT IS TIME TO RETURN TO TRUE HOCKEY AND LEAVE THE BIG GOVERNMENT, MANDATES AND HIGH COST BEHIND!!!
I truly believe, if you build it they will come. So we have built it. Local control, more flexibility, lower costs, these were all the items that we wanted to present and provide to coaches and players. AAU membership is $16.00 for the players much less than the other guys. Coaches and Referees pay $18.00 and this includes your required background check.
As a league we can only control what is done during league events. As an AAU Club member we will offer the league as part of AAU. We will work with Hockey Michigan to provide the best experience possible for your youth player. AAU is offering State Playoffs and National Playoffs. As a member of the league, one team for each division they are hosting will get a birth toNationals. There will be a cost to the teams for these tournaments, but well worth it.
We have designed the league for all age groups and playing levels. This is not only for 8U or 10U players. If you like the Idea of No Game Counts, Tag Up offsides, Local control of some other playing rules then this is the league for you. We understand that no one wants to be the only team to move. We believe that if these rules, and AAU membership sounds good to you, then they will also sound good to others. As always if you have specific questions or would like to volunteer to be a division director you may contact us at mayhlinfo@gmail.com Thank you and welcome back to the Good ole hockey game!!
